The 2026 Tata Punch facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the first major mid-life update for the popular sub-compact SUV since its debut in 2021. With refreshed styling, new features, and two important powertrain upgrades, the updated Punch aims to strengthen its position in a highly competitive segment.

Most notably, the 2026 Punch introduces a new turbo-petrol engine, an AMT option with the CNG powertrain, and continues to offer 5-star Bharat NCAP safety, reinforcing Tata’s safety-first approach.

Powertrain Updates: Turbo Petrol Steals the Show

New 1.2-litre Turbo-Petrol

One of the biggest complaints about the earlier Punch was its lack of punchy performance. Tata has addressed this by introducing a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, borrowed from the Nexon.

  • Power: 120hp
  • Torque: 170Nm
  • Gearbox: 6-speed manual
  • 0–100 km/h: 11.1 seconds (claimed)

There’s no automatic option with this engine, likely to avoid overlap with lower Nexon variants.

Existing Petrol & CNG Options Continue

  • 1.2L NA Petrol: 88hp / 115Nm
  • 1.2L Petrol + CNG: 73hp / 103Nm

Both are now available with 5-speed MT and AMT, with the CNG AMT being a major new addition.

Exterior Design: Inspired by Punch EV

The Tata Punch facelift retains its familiar silhouette but now looks sharper and more premium.

  • New vertically stacked LED headlamps
  • Revised LED DRLs with gloss black housing
  • Sportier front bumper with silver accents
  • Connected LED tail-lamps with a light bar
  • New 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
  • Faux silver skid plates front and rear
