In this article, I’ll be explaining Parameters and Variables in Informatica PowerCenter or Informatica Intelligent cloud service (IICS) which can be asked in your upcoming Informatica Interviews and it’s recommended that you should be aware about the difference. Here, in this article i have explained the mapping parameter and variable in Informatica in simple and easy definition .

What is Mapping Parameters? 

Mapping parameter in Informatica represent a constant value which we can define before running a session or a mapping configuration task in IICS(MCT). 

1.Mapping Parameter represent a constant value throughout the entire session and doesn’t change during the session execution. 

2. When we use a mapping parameter, we declare the parameter in mapping or a mapplet.  

  • Then defined value of a parameter in a param file for the session and place it in the user parameter folder. During the execution of session, the informatica evaluates all reference point to the parameter to that value. 

What is Mapping Variables? 

Mapping variable in Informatica represent a value that can change whenever a session run. 

1. Informatica server store and saves the value of Mapping variable to the repository at the end of each successful session run and uses the saved value next time when you execute the.
