Board basics (the data protection board of india)
The Data Protection Board of India is established under the Act. It is appointed by the Central Government. Its members hold office for a term of two years and may be re-appointed. It functions as an independent body and works as a digital office, with proceedings and filings conducted online as far as possible. The rules on its constitution and procedure are in Rules 17 to 21, which took effect on 13 November 2025.
