Apple might soon unveil its thinnest iPhone ever, reportedly named the iPhone 17 Air, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device is expected to launch this fall. It could take a significant leap in design by being around 2 millimeters slimmer than current models. It may potentially measure between 5.5mm and 6.25mm in thickness. This would make it thinner than the iPhone 6, the slimmest iPhone to date.

The “Air” branding aligns with Apple’s strategy. The brand focuses on introducing thinner and lighter versions of its products. This is much like the MacBook Air and iPad Air. Beyond aesthetics, this ultra-slim design may serve as a testing ground for innovations leading to Apple’s first foldable devices.

The iPhone 17 Air might showcase its debut as a platform for Apple’s in-house cell modem. This modem is codenamed Sinope. It will first appear in the upcoming iPhone SE. Additionally, the phone is rumored to include Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips. It’s unclear if these advancements will extend to the Air model.

On the hardware front, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to sport a 6.6-inch ProMotion OLED display—currently exclusive to Pro models—with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Camera enthusiasts might find a single 48-megapixel rear lens and a 24-megapixel front camera. Under the hood, Apple’s A19 chip could power the device. It comes with 8GB of RAM. This setup enhances performance and enables advanced AI-driven features.

If these rumors hold true, the iPhone 17 Air may not just be a design marvel. It could be a technological milestone. This offers a glimpse into Apple’s ambitious future. With its expected launch just months away, excitement is already building among tech enthusiasts and Apple fans alike.
